I ported/updated Debian Multimedia’s Argyll package to version 1.0.2 for Ubuntu Hardy, it’s available in my repository:
deb http://ubuntu.pcode.nl/ubuntu hardy argyll
Argyll can be used to generate ICC profiles for your display using a display colorimeter like the Huey. Argyll only provides basic commandline tools to do the calibration, which you can use like so:
dispcal -v -q h -y l acer
targen -v -d3 -f 400 acer
dispread -v -y l -k acer.cal acer
colprof -v -A “Acer” -M “AL2016w” -D “Acer AL2016w (`date ‘+%-e %b %Y’`)” -C “Public Domain” -q u -as acer
I’ve revised this procedure, the updated instructions can be found here.
