Recently I’ve discovered a really great resource for learning the GIMP called Meet The GIMP, it’s a collection of vodcasts (video podcasts) made by Rolf Steinort. I own two books on the GIMP, but I’ve learned more from Meet The GIMP than from either book…
There are a lot of episodes, over seventy and counting. From the standpoint of a photographer not all episodes are equally useful, so I’m presenting my “best of” selection of Meet The GIMP:
- Episode 001: Preparing an image for the web
- Episode 045: The Rights Colours Nearly
- Episode 066: Setting up the GIMP 2.6 and looking into the future
- Episode 068: Followup to the set up 2.6 episode
- Episode 006: Selective Sharpening
- Episode 007: The Curves Tool
- Episode 008: Questions and Answers
- Episode 011: RAW converting with UFRaw
- Episode 076: UFRaw revisited
- Episode 012: RAW? JPEG? TIFF? What? When? Why?
- Episode 014: Liquid Rescale
- Episode 017: Selecting Selections, part 1
- Episode 018: Selecting Selections, part 2
- Episode 022: Secrets of the Unsharp Mask
- Episode 023: Colours, Colors and Dialogs
- Episode 025: A Winter Morning
- Episode 026: Resolutions
- Episode 028: Are 8bit enough?
- Episode 029: Drawing tools
- Episode 030: Brushes
- Episode 032: Fade to grey, monochrome conversion, part 1
- Episode 033: Fade to grey, channel mixer, part 2
- Episode 034: Fade to grey, full control, part 3
- Episode 039: Different Tones
- Episode 056: Meaningfull Black
- Episode 062: Noise in the Dark
- Episode 063: More Noise in the Dark
- Episode 069: Burn and Dodge
- Episode 073: Layers
- Episode 075: Urban Paradise, part 1
You might notice the first four episodes being out of order, I highly recommend you watch these first, before continuing to the rest of the series.
