We all remember a while back that Google announced their own browser called Chrome (based on WebKit), which was actually pretty cool, except for the fact that the first version only ran on Windows. But Google being Google, they didn’t leave it at that. For a big while now they have been working on Linux and Mac support, and when I tried Chromium (the open source version of Google Chrome) the other day, I was pleasantly surprised how far they have gotten. Another big plus is that Google has chosen GTK along with some custom widgets, for their user interface. Chromium does use custom theming out of the box, but that’s easily fixed by clicking on the Tool button, and then selecting Options, then in following dialog select the Personal Stuff tab, and click on Set to GTK+ theme and the theming will adjust itself (mostly) to match the GTK+ theme you’re currently using.

If you’d like to try Chromium as well, you can get packages with sources specifically built for Ubuntu on this PPA, I think it’s officially still beta, but it seems to work very well thus far.
